Those shoes again...

Have made the shoe drawings in to cards. Now up on Etsy and Folksy :)

In exciting non-shoe related news, in ten days time I'll be in Barcelona! Booked it yesterday, for four nights. I can't wait. So much to draw, so much to photograph. Shall be amazing. If anyone's been before, I'd gladly take your recommendations!

shoes shoes shoes...

It was my Mum's birthday at the weekend. She's become slightly shoe-obsessed. So I gave her this drawing of some of her shoes:

She cried, but in a good way! Think I may make it in to some cards or something (she's given me her permission, hehe).

Went to London yesterday, up to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and then over to Seven Dials and Covent Garden. Had a lovely day. And I actually sat and did some drawing, which was really nice.

The one above I drew whilst sat in the sun listening to a busker (who, I must add, was very good). So it's been a bit of a busy few days, but I hope to get back to some screenprinting and cushion making over the next few days. Though, with this weather, it's tempting to just laze about in the garden...

Cushion love

This week I attacked my pile of lovely new fabrics, and made a couple of screenprinted cushion covers. Quite pleased with how they turned out, actually. Think I'll keep going with some different designs.

These two are now on the shop :)

Other than that, I've not done a lot. My Nan did ask me to make her a card for a wedding she's going to, though. Their colour sceme is cream, gold and orange.

Folksy

Oh, and one more thing - Folksy.
It's like a UK version of Etsy, which is rather lovely. In its very early stages at the moment, but I think it'll be a good thing to be a part of :)

So I've started up a Folksy shop!

Unproductive?

I seem to have been kind of busy the past week - but not in the 'drawing/making/crafting' sense of busy. More the 'things to do, people to see' kind of busy. So as a result I haven't had much time for making, so I feel I've been fairly unproductive!

I had to go in to college on Monday to get my feedback for the year from my tutor. Pretty pleased! :)

On Saturday I let myself loose in Fabric Warehouse, and came back with this pile of goodies:

So now I can get printing and maybe make up a few cushion covers. Exciting stuff.

I also raided my stash of beads which has been neglected somewhat in recent years, and made myself and necklace. I was quite proud of myself for not sticking to any sort of order or colour-scheme. I can be a bit overly-organised in, well, most aspects of life (CDs are arranged alphabetically by artist, and books are arranged by the colour of their spine...I really need to get out more). But I just grabbed a hadful of beads and threaded at random.

And last week whilst in my textiles mood I made this:

So, on reflection, perhaps I haven't actually been too unproductive...

Waves

I've been delving in to my sewing box this week. Felt like getting a bit crafty. I've had this big piece of thin grey felt-type fabric for a while and kept meaning to do something with it. So I made the above stencil and tried screenprinting it.

I was actually pretty pleased with how it came out. Not done much fabric printing in the past. Was a bit patchy in places, but not to worry. Took up most of my bedroom floor space though, heh.

I made it in to a cushion cover, to go over my big old Ikea cushion. I made another cover for a socond cushion, with left-over fabric from my bedroom blinds which you can just about see in the pic above on the right. You can also see in that pic a knitted cushion cover. I did that a while ago. Took an absolute age. And then I made a nice big felt flower to cover up numerous holes where I dropped a stitch here and there!

The printed cushion is not going on the shop, it's going on the bed. But I did do a couple of prints on to card which are now on Etsy:

Think I'll buy some more fabric and experiment with some more printing. Might even make some cushion covers to put on the shop. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for textiles. Especially felt.

Been at the silkscreen again today. I think I'm addicted. Have put it up on the shop.

Lighthouse Love

So the past couple of days I've mostly been wanding around the house clutching my notebook, sketchbook and pens, drawing, doodling and jotting down ideas. Today I decided to have slightly more of a focus and try to produce something worthwhile. So I screenprinted a lighthouse. Whether that was worthwhile or not I'll let you decide, hehe.

I ended up with 11 decent prints, on a few different colours, and I've put the navy blue one above up on Etsy. I also made a few more cards, like this one:

It's been a very self-indulgent week, spending near-enough all the waking hours of the day drawing or printing or something of that nature. Nevermind.

Thankyou?

Yesterday my mum asked me to make her a thankyou card for a friend. I think I went a bit overboard. And due to this, they can now be found on my Etsy shop!

I bought a new screenprinting kit on Monday, so I christened my lush new wooden squeegee for these cards. I couldn't bring myself to muck up the pristine new screen, though...

I also, finally, commited something to the first page of this notebook. I bought it a couple of weeks ago from Paperchase. I'd been wanting a brownpaper book, but then once I'd got it I couldn't find a way to start in it. The first page is always horrible. But yesterday I sat in the garden in the sun and drew the shed, hurrah.

Hello

Well, it was about time I got me one of these.

So last week I finally started up an Etsy shop, to keep me busy over the summer while I'm out of college. I just thought it might be nice to keep a blog about the things I'm making and doing, design-wise. And perhaps to share some interesting design-finds on the way.

We'll see what happens.
