Forcing Chance

Our BA (Hons) Graphic Design class will be holding an exhibition at the RK Burt Gallery in London from the 8th - 12th March. It will be showcasing the work produced in response to a brief set by Gustavo Fernandez of Why Not Associates (remember the poster I did about the busker? It's that brief, called Forcing Chance).

Private view: 5th March, 12pm - 4pm
Public opening: 8th - 12th March, 10:30am - 5pm

RK Burt Gallery
57 Union Street
London

The A4 Draw, prize draw: Friday 12th March, 1pm
We're hoping to be able to display the work contributed to The A4 Draw throughout the exhibition, and the prize draw will take place on the final day, the 12th March. Tickets will be available during the exhibition, too.

So, come along if you can!

Thursday 25 February 2010

Busy busy.

I've neglected the blog a bit lately. Things have been pretty busy, but at the same time there hasn't been much to show, design-wise! Mainly because of what you see above: The Dissertation. In all its finished, printed and bound glory. It is now handed in and out of the way and I never have to think about it ever again. YES!

The rest of the time as been spent making a start on the Final Major Project. I've chosen Mythology for my subject. Research is going well - really getting in to it now. Just need some sort of inspiration as to where it's going to lead... I'm off to the British Museum this afternoon in search of ideas.

Aside from all that, things are pretty busy organising fundraising and exhibitions as a class.

Anyone in the Essex area, come to our comedy night!
Three comedians and a bar. Bound to be good.

11th March, 8pm - 11pm

Clarence Hall, Clarence Street, Southend-on-Sea, Essex

Tickets £10 on the door

(for updates on what we're up to as a class, we've now set up a blog that will track our progress through to our end of year exhibitions: One & A Dozen)

And finally, The A4 Draw. A few more pieces of work have been contributed, which can be found on the blog. Tickets are on sale until the 11th March, as the prize draw will be on the 12th - so buy your tickets while you still can!

The prize draw will take place at the RK Burt Gallery in London on Friday 12th March at 1pm. Our BA (Hons) Graphic Design class are exhibiting our work at the gallery from the 8th - 12th. Tickets for The A4 Draw can be bought throughout the exhibition, and we're hoping for the prizes to be on display, too.

Anyway, I think that's all for now. I'll stop rambling and head off to the British Museum...

Adagio

So, when I did some work experience at Social last summer, I worked on an identity project for a new pizza place called Adagio. It's just opened in Greek Street in London, and my hand drawn type for the logo has been used! So nice to see something that started out as some lines on a page turn in to something physical. Might have to pop in for some pizza and take a look for myself...

By the way...

This is my piece for The A4 Draw, by the way. So if you fancy a chance of winning it, you know what to do!

The A4 Draw

I'm excited to announce the launch of The A4 Draw!
Organised by myself and my fellow BA (Hons) Graphic Design coursemates, The A4 Draw gives you the chance to win a piece of A4 work by established artists and designers, as well as us students from South Essex College.

Tickets can be bought for £4 from our Folksy shop, and winners will be drawn at random in early March. To see all work contributed to the A4 draw, visit our blog. Contributors include Rob Ryan, Gemma Correll, Emma Dibben, Alice Tait and many more...!

The A4 Draw aims to raise money for our graduate exhibitions this summer, at the South Essex College show, New Designers and D&AD New Blood. But it also celebrates the work of those who inspire us, and we're very grateful for their support!

So yes...please buy a ticket!
